TCG to Support Transformation of DOJ COPS Business Processes

COPS uses Lean Six Sigma to advance community policing nationwide

Washington, DC, September 9, 2008: TCG, a leading government business strategy and IT company, announced today that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has awarded the company a contract to support transformation of knowledge resources, grants, financial, and administrative lines of business at the agency.

TCG began work on the knowledge resources management line of business in 2007, using Lean Six Sigma techniques to develop improved processes and procedures across the agency. This approach was well received at COPS and will now be applied to additional lines of business as the agency aims to realize its mission to advance community policing across the nation.

“COPS wants to use Lean Six Sigma techniques to improve services to the nation and create greater efficiencies. The agency’s enthusiasm for this approach and commitment to transformation to improve customer services is visionary,” said Daniel Turner, President of TCG. “At the same time, our company goal is to save US taxpayers $1 billion by 2011. Working with COPS on this project will undoubtedly help us achieve the government’s goals and contribute significantly to our corporate goal.”

The work will be performed by TCG’s Washington, DC, office and will be supported by T3 Technologies, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business.

About the Department of Justice COPS Office
The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services was created as a result of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994.  As a component of the U.S. Department of Justice, the mission of the COPS Office is to advance community policing as an effective strategy in communities’ efforts to improve public safety.  COPS provides grant resources to local, state, and tribal law enforcement agencies to acquire and deploy cutting-edge crime-fighting technologies, combat methamphetamine, and improve school safety. COPS provides knowledge resources to increase the capacity of agencies to implement community policing strategies through innovative training, technical assistance, and publication products.  These knowledge resources prepare officers and their departments to meet challenges by developing community/law enforcement partnerships, promoting problem-solving and innovative approaches to crime issues, and implementing organizational change to build and strengthen community policing infrastructure.
