NGMA Training: Proactive Prevention of Fraud, Waste and Abuse in Grants

The next NGMA training session is scheduled for November 17. Here are the details:

Proactive Prevention of Fraud, Waste and Abuse in Grants
Featuring Patricia Reese, CPA
Director, Division of Program Integrity Outreach, Communication and Training
US Department of Health & Human Resources

Preventing fraud, waste and abuse in grants is a shared responsibilitybetween the entity receiving the grant and the entity awarding the grant. It involves establishing and following processes to properly award, monitor and close out the grant; maintaining open communications between all parties; and maintaining vigilance throughout the grant’s life cycle. Patricia Reese, CPA and Director within the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Program Integrity Outreach, Communication and Training, will share her knowledge and experience in overseeing fraud, waste and abuse in federal grants. She has over 15 years in dealing with fraud, waste and abuse including serving as Audit Manager at two federal Offices of Inspectors General. Most recently, Ms. Reese served as the Director of the Division of Financial Integrity at the Health Services and Resources Administration, overseeing almost $8 billion of federal grant awards.
