TCG’s Brian Ibbison is a 2011 Rising Star Award Winner

TCG Staff Receive Recognition for Third Year in a Row

Washington, DC, August 22, 2011:  At TCG, we’re incredibly proud of the high quality of our people and the work they do. And we get great shivers of joy when others recognize just how much our staff contribute to the government. That’s why we’re so unutterably pleased that for the third year in a row a TCG team member has been recognized as a Federal Computer Week Rising Star!

Brian Ibbison, a project manager and technical lead with TCG, is the latest recipient, following Nina Preuss in 2010 and Rich Renomeron in 2009. The Rising Star Awards highlight top public and private sector employees who have made an early—and substantive—mark in the government IT community. Mr. Ibbison was one of 25 individuals from over 125 nominees selected for this prestigious honor. The award announcement is posted on the Federal Computer Week website.

Mr. Ibbison leads applications development and database administration at DOJ’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), a grant-making agency whose mission is to distribute funds to advance the practice of community-based policing. He has also been instrumental in achieving significant outcomes for COPS. For example, the COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) was provided $600 million through the 2009 Recovery Act. Mr. Ibbison led the team that built a new grant application receipt system to process a greater volume of applications than COPS had ever received. The system was conceived, built, and delivered on time in 4 weeks to meet the deadline.

“Brian is the epitome of a rising star,” said TCG President Dan Turner. “His team leadership and knowledge of business processes, technology, and user needs combine to achieve breakthrough outcomes for COPS and grantees, and hold replicable lessons for government IT as a whole.”

About the Rising Star Awards and the 1105 Government Information Group
The Rising Star awards are sponsored by the 1105 Government Information Group—the publisher of Federal Computer Week, Government Computer News, Washington Technology, and Defense Systems. Now in its sixth year, the awards program honors up-and-coming employees in the public and private sectors who have made an early—and substantive—mark in the government information technology community.  Supervisors or co-workers nominate individuals for the awards, and a distinguished panel of judges chooses the winners.
