Agencies get clarity through Grants.gov Readiness Assessment
Washington, D.C., March 15, 2004: Washington-based TCG (Turner Consulting Group), today announced that it is offering Federal agencies a fixed-price analysis of their readiness for integration with Grants.gov, the government-wide grants opportunity gateway. Based on the company’s pioneering, proven integration with the E‑Gov initiative, the Grants.gov Readiness Assessment delivers an action-focused analysis that agencies can use to speed their compliance with OMB’s mandate to document their plan to receive grant applications electronically from Grants.gov by September 1, 2004.
TCG developed USDA’s interface with Grants.gov, and was the test case for system-to-system integration with the Federal grants portal. TCG’s Grants.gov Readiness Assessment applies the lessons learned when TCG developed the software that has enabled USDA be the first agency to integrate with Grants.gov.
The assessment is offered either separately or with TCG’s Grants.gov Connector software. This software, available at no cost to Federal agencies, enables agencies to receive grant proposals electronically from Grants.gov into their own grants management systems. When combined with the assessment, the software represents a complete approach for integrating with Grants.gov, and the beginning of the journey towards grants systems consolidation.

Grants.gov, one of the Bush administration’s 24 original E‑Gov initiatives, aims to minimize the duplication of effort by government agencies and the public through a one-stop portal for grants information and grant applications. Since October 30, 2003, applicants have been able to find and apply for grant programs from across the Federal government at Grants.gov. The program is voluntary for government agencies this year; by October 30, 2004 it will be mandatory.
