WASHINGTON, DC: TCG Vice President Dave G. Cassidy has been appointed as co-lead of an American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) working group that will explore new business functions that may benefit from a federal shared service.

Federal shared services are programs of systems and processes that are operated by one agency on behalf of other agencies, and can help realize several of the Cross Agency Priority (CAP) goals in the President’s Management Agenda (PMA). Many shared services exist today, serving functions such as financial management and human resources management. The working group will study the potential use of shared services for other functions important to government missions, and present their recommendations to key policy makers at the Office of Management & Budget (OMB), other agencies, and ACT-IAC members, in October 2018.

Dave has supported federal shared services since 2000, when he helped manage iEdison.gov, the only government-wide inventions and patents reporting shared service. “TCG has helped agencies save taxpayer money by considering how other agencies’ missions can be supported by sharing systems, data, and services,” says Dave. “Eliminating duplicate systems and processes means agencies can work faster, more collaboratively, and keep funds focused on the unique aspects of their missions.”

ACT-IAC’s work on shared services has generated discussions and changes to industry standards, including policy improvements for public and private shared service providers. Dave’s leadership position at ACT-IAC — in which he is joined by Pankaj Sharma of Rigil Corporation — supports TCG’s efforts to bolster our government’s abilities with the best shared service tools. And, of course, Dave is helping TCG realize its own mission: to improve the world around us, in big and little ways, every day.
