More details have emerged about Anteon/General Dynamics’ plans for Grants.gov, namely that hosting will be done by Carpathia, an Ashburn, VA, provider that has worked with Anteon in the past.

I’d expressed doubts about the budgetary feasibility of the Anteon/GD bid and whereas I’d assumed that they’d stick with AT&T (who are currently a sub to them on the CIO-SP2 contract vehicle under which this procurement was conducted) this news only serves to exacerbate my concerns. Moving a working system to a different host with little-to-zero downtime while minimizing hardware acquisition costs and developing a new system is not cheap. In fact, it’s just about the antithesis of “cheap”.

Here’s hoping for more details about the “special sauce” that Anteon/GD has up its sleeve…
