TCG Congratulates PBG on being a Finalist for SECAF’s M‑P Award

With all those acronyms, you know it’s an award in government contracting

TCG congratulates our SBA protégé PBG Consulting on being a finalist for the Mentor-Protégé Award from the Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF). The award honors companies that have shown a compelling and profound commitment to excellence through a mentor-protégé relationship. Winners will be announced at the SECAF Awards Gala on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner, an event that honors small and emerging government contractors and the players in the industry that rely on small business.

PBG is a finalist because of TCG’s mentoring prowess, clearly, but TCG also has a commitment to the vitality of the small business community. As Certified B Corporation, we aim to be the best government IT and management consulting prime contractor on the planet for small businesses and other partners. As a mentor to PBG, TCG is a key source of best practices in IT and software engineering, business and engineering process and quality, and workplace culture, in addition to helping PBG find and secure new opportunities to grow and thrive. To that end, TCG and PBG established an SBA-approved mentor-protégé joint venture, Portmanteau JV, earlier this year. “I don’t think TCG gets to take all the credit for our win,” demurred Pawla Ghaleb, CEO of PBG, “But I do think they’re the best mentor any protégé could want.”

The All Small Mentor-Protégé Program (ASMPP) was established in 2016 to extend SBA approved mentor-protégé relationships to every small business. This program seeks to develop strong protégé firms through mentor-provided business development assistance and to help them successfully compete for government contracts.

“Government contracting comes with its own very special set of complications. Why suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune when you could instead oppose and end them profitably — and successfully,” said Dan Turner, President of TCG and (obviously) former English major. “Although, instead of slings and arrows it’s more like difficult procurements, complicated SLAs, and ridiculous eTLAs. We’ve learned some important lessons over the last 26 years that have helped us succeed, and we value the opportunity to share our experience and expertise with PBG. Having strong partnerships allows us to serve our customers in government more effectively and, in general, expand our ability to have a positive impact on the world. We really value our relationship with PBG, and appreciate the opportunity we have in working with them.”
