TCG’s Nina Preuss is a 2010 Rising Star Award Winner

Honored
for Substantial Contribution to Federal Government IT

Washington, DC,
July 6, 2010:
 Nina Preuss, a
project manager with TCG, has been selected by Federal Computer Week as a 2010 Rising Star. The program recognizes
top public and private sector employees who have made an early—and
substantive—mark in the government information technology community. This is
the second year in a row that a TCG employee has been honored as a Rising Star.
Last year, Rich Renomeron, a senior engineer, was an awardee. This year, Ms.
Preuss was one of 24 individuals from over 100 nominees selected for this
prestigious honor. The award
announcement
is posted on the Federal
Computer Week
website.

Ms.
Preuss manages two projects at the NIH. For the Neuroimaging Informatics Tools
and Resources Clearinghouse (NITRC), winner of the 2009 Excellence.Gov Award, she pioneered creating a collaborative
scientific community. The system—www.nitrc.org—supports
neuroimaging researchers by identifying software, data sets, and other
resources that were developed under NIH grants, and encourages their developers
and owners to share them on the NITRC Web site. Ms. Preuss’s outreach efforts
have brought not just tools and other resources, but also shared knowledge in
support of neuroimaging research. She coordinates efforts of the TCG team, the
NIH stakeholders and the scientific experts in order to deliver a quality
product to the neuroimaging community on time and on budget. In addition, Ms.
Preuss manages a team of subcontractors providing a range of services for the
highly-secure Integrated Research Facility (IRF), NIH’s bio-safety level 4
research laboratory at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

 “Nina
traverses the scientific research and government IT worlds to make each richer
and more capable,” said TCG President Dan Turner. “Her unique blend of
technical, scientific, and marketing capabilities underpins the success of
NITRC and IRF, and the awards they have received are a testament to her excellence.
Her commitment, skills, and achievements demonstrate that Nina is indeed a
rising star in our community.”

 About
the Rising Star Awards and the 1105 Government Information Group

The
Rising Star awards are sponsored by the 1105 Government Information Group—the
publisher of Federal Computer Week,
Government Computer News, Washington Technology,
and Defense Systems.  Now in its
fifth year, the awards program honors up-and-coming employees in the public and
private sectors who have made an early—and substantive—mark in the government
information technology community.
Supervisors or co-workers nominate individuals for the awards, and a
distinguished panel of judges chooses the winners.
